It's true, the Arvada store has closed. Two facts made this happen: Our lease was up, and business was down - way down. I love the store more than anyone else but paying thousands of dollars a month just to keep the doors open was no fun and it didn't make any sense to renew, even for a few years. The opportunity came to close and here we are. Or rather, were.
Saturday, December 5th we're going to hold a sale of the remaining equipment (quite a bit has been sold, but we've got some really good deals on cheap PC's, flat screen monitors, PC gear, and games). We're going to open the doors for that at 11am. This is also being posted on Craigslist, so there will probably be quite a few people turning out - in other words, get there early.
This website will continue, probably to morph in to another state of gaming, maybe even go back to what it was from 1997-2003: A PC gaming site, focused on dedicated FPS shooters and servers. Once we were the premier destination for Day of Defeat, the Valve WW2 mod. Perhaps Call of Duty WoW is in our future? Who can say? Only one thing is certain: Our LAN center is no more.
It's been a fun 7 years, Arvada. See you on the other side.
Based on customer feedback (see, we listen) we've brought back the 4 hours for $10 special - that's 4 hours of time that stays on your account. We get it, you liked it, so it's back.
We're also bringing back refer-a-friend for the time being: For those of you who don't remember, the way it works is simple - you bring in a friend (a new player, id required!) and both you and the friend get a free hour on the spot. You don't have to buy anything else to get it, all we ask is that customers not try to game the system by bringing in the same people (hence, we have to check id's). It doesn't get any easier than that.
We've cleaned the store top to bottom and fully restocked in preparation for the weekend - hope to see you soon!
Tonight (Friday, November 6th) we're holding a $10 overnighter. Come on in and reserve your spot early!
We've started installing the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo tonight! This is an exclusive, available only to centers like ours and those who pre-ordered. Check out this gameplay video to see what you're in for:
Turbine just released some new footage of Dungeons and Dragons Online on their YouTube channel in celebration of their subscription-free plan that went in to effect.
If you've never seen the game, or you only briefly tried it at launch, take a look - it's much improved since it first came out two years ago (those of you who remember what WoW was like at launch and how much it's changed since then will understand) and of course now, you can play MMO style with no subscription fees. And of course we have it ready to play in the center. Check it out!
